We're Going to Peru!

If you haven't heard by now, Nicole (My Best friend since Preschool!!) and I are planning a trip to South America!

We've always wanted to travel outside of the country together, but we didn't know that it would be Peru! When we were little girls we always dreamed of learning French and going to Paris together. As we grew older, we realized that Spanish was more practical here in the U.S. (Don't get me wrong - I hope to learn French one day!) In high school and college we studied Spanish. We knew that we'd be able to practise our Spanish often - the amount of Native Spanish-speakers in the U.S. is ever growing! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Spanish is the second most common language spoken in the U.S. next to English!

On a recent phone call with Nicole, we both realized that we were in the same situation and that we both had the same desire to travel to "a Spanish-speaking country" around the same time period! ...Talk about good timing! ...With the economy being how it is right now, and our job situations being effected by the bad times, we decided to turn our unfortunate situations into something beneficial and satisfying in many ways! We decided to travel to Cuzco, Peru...

Well, Nicole came up with the wonderful idea of Volunteering with children while we're there! We realized that this would be an excellent and very meaningful way to spend our time in a foreign country. I understand that as our economy is getting worse, and we are all experiencing hard times, those people who were suffering before the economy crises are now suffering the worst! This is a time when help is needed the most.

....We are currently finalizing the details on the organization we will be working with. Stay tuned for info on this organization!
